I recently experienced a tour of Descript by Margaret Ereneta and during it she was wearing these headphones with attached microphone: ATH-M50xSTS StreamSet™.
For around $199 they are a great headphone/microphone combo created especially for livestreamers. They come in XLR or USB.
Margaret actually mails the USB version to guests to wear during their remote interviews with her. All they have to do is plug it into their computer and adjust the microphone so it’s closer to their mouth.
To my ears, the microphone itself sounded very good.

This headset sounds great. Does the USB version start monitoring itself immediately when it’s plugged in? On my Windows machine, I usually need to mess around with the Sound settings to allow self-monitoring of the mic via headset. I like the idea of sending these to guests but I’m worried they might not be confident to change the output settings.
Hi Jey! Good question, I don’t know. But I would always assume with Windows that users would have to go in and change all settings themselves. With remote guests I’ve walked many people through settings and usually it works out fine. (only ~2 times in 7 years was the person not able to change their settings due to sheer luddite-itis.)
