Sony MDR7506 Headphones are popular and decent headphones for podcasting and podcast production. They cost around $100.
They are “fully closed,” which means they block out the most amount of other sounds in the room while preventing most of the sound being played through the headphones from escaping the headphones and bleeding into the microphone.
Plus there is a reference profile for these headphones within Sonarworks (software that removes audio coloration on headphones and monitors).

The Sony MDR7506 are my go-to for recording. I have five sets as it makes it easier to balance the guests’s headphones if they’re all the same. They also fold up well for location recording.
I also use the Sonarworks software with the Sony profile.
For mixing, I’ll use my DT770, again with Sonarworks, but with the DT770 profile.
My first set of cans that I bought when I took the gear plunge. Since then I notice them on tv and online used by many in recording studios, etc. I love them, and have aptly trained my ear to adjust to them as I don’t use monitors…something on my ‘to do’ list.
