Not Shortening Comedic Awkward Pauses
Sometimes, as part of telling a joke or being funny, a person will pause awkwardly for an uncomfortable amount of time.
Think twice before removing any of this silence because your edits could change the timing and effectiveness of the joke. It’s usually best to err on the side of NOT changing it at all, rather than chancing ruining the person’s comedic timing.

Timing of any spoken word is important. It doesn’t matter if it’s comedy, drama or anything. The pauses are part of the rhythm and drama.
If you were editing a photograph, you would not tend to remove all the white pixels ( or black ones) – it would look weird. Same with sound. Gaps are good, if in the right places.
Listen to what is being said. Make it better. Don’t act like a machine.
