Which Album(s) Have You Listened to the Most Times in Your Entire Life?

You will probably be most familiar with the sound of whichever albums you have listened to the most over your entire life.

These can come in handy when you want to break in (and learn) a new pair of monitors, headphones or earbuds.

By listening to music that you know extremely well you will become familiar with the “color” of your new monitors. Because all monitors color the sound to some degree.

  1. I don’t have an album, but I do have a playlist of a collection of tracks that I either have played for years or I recorded that I use.

I try to make it a wide range of styles from heavy rock to classical via Reggae and Jazz just to get different dynamics.

I don’t have any spoken word though. Do you think I should?

  2. Discovering FLAC versions of my favourite albums has opened up a whole new world.

As just one example, there’s the Sting album “…Nothing Like the Sun” and the song Englishman in New York. When I heard the FLAC version, suddenly there were all these sound effects in the background, traffic noise, crowd noise, birds… (like he’s walking down the street). Fascinating. A whole new appreciation for the recording, and you would never know it otherwise with just the mp3.
